Neymar fined 1.2 million dollars for tax evasion

Paris Saint-Germain attacker Neymar has been hit with a 3.8 million Brazilian Real fine (around 1.2 million dollars) after he acted in 'bad faith' in his attempt to delay a process for tax evasion.

The sanction was imposed on Tuesday by the Third Room of the Federal Regional Court of the Third Region of Brazil, in a process where the justice determined that in September 2015, with an embargo of 192.7 million reals (about 62.2 million dollars) on the attacker's assets as they looked to ensure the payment of taxes that were owed.

The value of the fine corresponds to two percent of the value that the federal treasury of Brazil expects to receive from Neymar for evaded taxes and fines.

Neymar was accused by the Brazilian treasury two years ago of having not paid all of his taxes in full between 2011 and 2013, and having used his family's businesses to pay less taxes.
