LIVERPOOL could have signed Alisson for just £4million in 2015, according to reports.
The Reds paid Roma a record £67m to make the Brazilian, 25, the world’s most expensive goalkeeper.
Alisson is one of the best goalkeepers in world footballREUTERSBut the Sunday Mirror claims Anfield chiefs were offered Alisson three years earlier while he was at Internacional in his homeland.
His representatives apparently sent a detailed dossier to a number of clubs in England highlighting the keeper’s potential.
It reportedly included testimony from World Cup-winning Brazil No1 Claudio Taffarel hailing Alisson as the best young stopper to come out of South America.
But nobody took up the offer and the prospect – who earned his first Brazil cap in the mean time – ended up signing from Roma 12 months later in a bargain £6.7m deal.
Liverpool may have lost £63m by failing to act earlier but Jurgen Klopp will hope his new charge can finally sort out his main problem position.
Since Pep Reina joined Bayern Munich in 2014, the Reds have struggled to find a No1 with Simon Mignolet losing his spot to Loris Karius.
